Early rising enthusiasts like myself have discovered a whole slew of benefits of waking up at 5am every morning. Of all the decisions I’ve made in my life, the one that I’m most proud and grateful for is the decision to wake up at 5am .
Good things come to those who wait – and those who persist. That’s exactly what happened to me when I started waking up early.
Let’s be honest. For most people, it’s not easy to get up first thing in the morning , especially when it’s still dark. But a lot of successful people say, “If you win the morning, you win the day.”
Benefits of waking up at 5am are more experiential than theoretical.
ImportantBuilding skills and habits that make you feel better about yourself makes your life better in general. When you’re up at the ass crack of dawn working on your side business, exercising, or planning your day, you feel like you have a head start on the rest of the world .
Once the normal time people wake up rolls around, you feel like you’re on pace to get much more done than the average person. And it feels good as hell.
Connecting with your purpose allows you to live forward, toward your goals and dreams . If you’re not doing this, then you are unconsciously living today as a repeat of yesterday.
Most people wake up frantic and busy. They haven’t given themselves time to connect with themselves, their higher purpose, and their Higher Power.
Once you realize that waking up early serves a purpose , you’ll treat it as a means to an end instead of the end itself. Then, you’ll actually stand a chance of making it a successful habit.
Here I am going to share the benefits of waking up at 5am every single day. Some of these benefits are obvious, some are not. These are the keys to success to basically anything you really want.
Extra Time
Waking up at 5am allows you to have some extra time to organize yourself and plan the day ahead . This will allow you to be extra productive during the day and also prepares you for the tasks you need to accomplish.
When you wake up at 5am, your mind is fresh and your motivation tank is full. You have the energy to do the creative and complex work.
You will not feel rushed to get this done and will have time to really think about your schedule and how to make it all fit.
You can live with intention and creation, rather than consumption.
ImportantThis is the definition of luxury: With a two-hour head start on the rest of the country, you get to decide what’s important to you — instead of rolling out of bed, straight into a hailstorm of to-dos. Because your mornings are, well, yours , you are able to devote them to the quiet, meditative activities you love.
You can happen to the world, rather than having the world happen to you.
Back to the image of waking up at 5am vs snoozing and running out the door at the last minute: another benefit of waking up at 5am is that it allows you the opportunity to plan out how you will spend the rest of our day.
You can be proactive, not reactive.
According to Brian Tracy, who is considered an authority on personal success, every ONE minute spent planning saves TEN minutes executing. It means you’re not getting lost or distracted between tasks . You know what to do and when you’re going to do it.
FIVE BenefitS of waking up at 5am
Peak State
If you wake up every day at 5am, get yourself connected, learning, and making progress, you’ll start to feel a heightened state of mind . You’ll have more “peak moments.”
The more peak experiences you have, the more transformed you’ll become as a person. The higher the standards you will have.
Peak experiences can become a normal and expected part of your day. Those moments of “awe” and gratitude . Those moments you feel completely absorbed by the brilliance and abundance.
If you’re having peak experiences every morning, then what do you think will happen the rest of your day? Your day will be guided. You’ll be inspired . You’ll be in the right place. You’ll positively impact others.
A benefit of waking up at 5am is that we give ourselves an opportunity to choose how the day will go.
We can then see the benefits not only in that single day, but in the days that follow. We become more grateful, more satisfied with our lives , and again, generally more pleasant to be around.
Early risers tend to be more productive for a variety of reasons.
ImportantYou tend to make better decisions and think more clearly in the morning than in the afternoon and evening. Setting your goals first thing will help them achieve them.

Your health depends on your activity level and exercise is important for a healthy lifestyle.
When you exercise in the morning, you’re less likely to have an excuse. Plus, you’ll find that your morning workout will keep you energized all day long .

After awhile, your body will have its own internal alarm clock that will know when it is time to wake, allowing you to have more energy for your morning routine.
Self Care
Waking up at 5am does can provide you with a couple hours of much needed alone time. Alone time is good for your focus which helps your productivity and health in many ways.
By putting ourselves and our own self-care FIRST for the day, we are preventing ourselves from exhaustion, burnout, and even physical illness.
We are creating doorways to our future success by practicing personal development and saving hours of our lives that would otherwise be lost to busy work.
If you change one key area of your life, every other area will organically change as well.
In the book, The Power Of Habit, Charles Duhigg explained the idea of “keystone habits.” A keystone habit is one positive habit that ripples into everything else in your life . When you begin waking up at 5AM, you will find that every other area of your life will improve.
Another surprising benefit of waking up at 5am is a happier and positive lifestyle.
ImportantMorning people get better quality and quantity of sleep thus giving them complete rest that their body demands. A study at the University of Toronto suggests that morning-type people report feeling happier than evening types .
It’s a miracle how quiet the world is first thing in the morning.
Not only are there zero distractions, which will allow you to enjoy peace and quiet , but you get to avoid all that annoying office chit chat about all the stuff you have to pretend to care about to be “polite.”

Confidence is built through small and consistent wins. When you start your day with small wins, this leads to other wins, and eventually, bigger wins.
If you wake up at 5am for 30 days straight, and make progress toward your goals, you’ll have a much higher level of confidence. With more confidence, you’ll be able to make bigger decisions .
What kind of person are you becoming? Are you actively working toward your personal development?
ImportantWaking up early and creating space for your morning routine allows room for personal development so you can begin to not only envision the person you want to be, but actively make progress toward becoming that person.
